Four-star cornerback Jared Mayden from Sachse (Tex.) has verbally committed to Oregon, he announced on ESPNU’s telecast of The Opening Thursday night.
Mayden also had offers from Alabama, Florida State and Ohio State, per his 247 sports profile, but ultimately chose Mark Helfrich’s squad. Mayden added on the telecast that Helfrich knows he can be versatile enough to play safety, as well.
Mayden is ranked as the No. 11 corner in the class by 247 and the 134th-best overall prospect. He stands at six feet tall and weighs 190 pounds.
He’s the Ducks’ 13th commit in the Class of 2016 and the fourth defensive back to pledge to Oregon.
