A pep rally at San Marcos High School in Texas was canceled Friday because of rumors that a fight could break out at the event.
School officials could not substantiate the rumors but opted to cancel as a precaution.
Here is the text of a letter sent to families in the San Marcos ISD on Friday:
On Thursday, September 24, 2015, a fight involving six male students broke out during the lunch hour. A temporary shelter in place was called until the fight was stopped by administrators. No weapons were involved. On Friday, September 25, there were unsubstantiated rumors that there would be another fight during the scheduled pep rally.
The San Marcos High School principal reports that they have no viable evidence of any threats or weapons. None of the students involved in the fight yesterday are on campus today. As precautionary measures, there is an increased presence of SRO’s, and today’s pep rally has been cancelled. San Marcos CISD will always take precautions to keep our students and staff safe.
