Brevard rising junior Joseph Schrader is 2-1 after a couple days of competition at the New Balance High School Tennis Championship in Boston.

Schrader beat Jared Lees (Anchorage, AK) in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 on Tuesday at the Harvard Tennis Center.

The four-day competition runs through Thursday and features 64 nationwide players.

Schrader (20-2) was the 2-A Western Regional champion and NCHSAA 2-A singles runner-up this past season for the Blue Devils. He is a two-time Citizen-Times All-WNC Player of the Year.
