STEUBENVILLE – The Tri-Valley girls finished third to lead area swim teams Saturday at the sectional meet at Steubenville High School.
District qualifiers will be announced Sunday.
Dover won the girls title with 368 points with Martins Ferry second (291 1/2) and the Scotties with 223.
Tri-Valley’s Lauren Lynch won the 50 free in :26.44 and Claudia Frueh took first in the 100 free (:57.28) to highlight the Scotties’ efforts.
Claudia Frueh, Lexanne and Lauren Lynch and Menly Lutz were second in the 200 free relay (1:48.16); Lexanne Lynch came in second in the 100 back (1:04.73); Lexanne and Lauren Lynch, Elise Frueh and Lutz placed third in the 200 medley relay (2:02.4); Elise and Claudia Frueh, Lutz and Lauren Lynch took third in the 400 free relay (4:04.1); Elise Frueh was third in the 500 free (5:51.9); Lutz placed fourth in the 100 fly (1:09.89) and Claudia Frueh came in fifth in the 200 free (2:07.0) for Tri-Valley.
Brock Loy, Zachary Spragg, Cooper Waggle and Cole Reed were fifth in the 200 free relay (1:43.65) for Tri-Valley; and Gabe Skrobot from Rosecrans placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.91) to lead area boys.
The Scotties were seventh (96) and Rosecrans 12th (64) as top area boys teams, while the John Glenn girls were also 12th (50).
