Devin Mangum and Jared Patterson had a team-high two hits apiece, but the Asheville American Legion Post 70 baseball team saw its season come to an end Friday night in Belmont.

The Gaston Braves scored four runs in the first inning and six more in the third and take a 10-3 home win.

Asheville finishes with a 7-15 record after dropping the first-round playoff series, three games to one.

One of Patterson’s hits was a double. He and Mangum also had a stolen base as did Holden Upright. Nate Fore added an RBI.

Henderson County Post 77 was swept three games to none in its series with Union County. Henderson County (8-19) lost 3-1 on Friday at Wingate University.

Haywood County Post 47 (17-5) is the lone Western North Carolina team which has advanced to the second round of the playoffs. Post 47 will meet the winner of Kings Mountain-Mint Hill in a best-of-five series that starts Tuesday.
