ELK RIVER – Lara Aycock won the all-around at the Section 8-2A gymnastics meet to lead St. Cloud Tech/Cathedral to its 10th consecutive trip to the Class 2A state gymnastics meet Saturday afternoon.
The fourth-ranked Tigers won the meet as a team with a season-high 147.4 points to advance to state.
Aycock scored a 36.3 in the all-around, took second on the bars (9.45) and third in the floor exercise (9.375).
Margeaux Schmid took second in the all-around for Tech/Cathedral with a 36.05, was second on the vault (9.45) and fourth on the floor (9.35).
St. Cloud Apollo’s Sarah Voigt placed third in the all-around (35.9).
Four other Tech/Cathedral gymnasts qualified for state in individual events. The top four in each event make the cut for the state meet.
Jodi Lipp won the vault with a 9.5 and took fourth on the bars (9.175) for the Tigers and Tech/Cathedral’s Emily Dorn took fourth on the vault (9.25).
Sarah Lommel won the bars with a 9.65 and took second on the beam (9.15) for the Tigers and teammate Tori Aycock placed second on the floor (9.425).
Apollo’s Betty Grell advanced to state with a first-place finish on the balance beam with a score of 9.2.
The Class 2A meet starts at 6 p.m. Friday at the University of Minnesota’s Sports Pavilion.

DETROIT LAKES – Suzy Smith placed 18th on the beam (7.7) to lead Little Falls at the Section 8A gymnastics meet.
The Flyers finished sixth as a team while Detroit Lakes took first place to advance to state.

SARTELL – Becker’s Lindsay Olsen led the Bulldogs to the section championship with a fifth-place finish in the all-around (35.3) at the Section 7A gymnastics meet.
The Bulldogs advanced to the Class A state meet next week as a team with 142.825 points.
Sartell placed third as a team, but had three qualifiers make it to state.
Madison Flaherty and Anna Neeser both qualified in the all-around for Sartell and Shelby Hall qualified on the uneven bars.
