Seven Deadly Sins: West Anchorage forces 7 turnovers in state title win

By

We had you covered on last weekend’s first two Alaskan state football title showdowns, and on Friday the big boys had their chance to do battle in the large school state championship game. West (Anchorage, Alaska) came away with the trophy after a 41-0 win over Chugiak (Alaska).

With a score like 41-0, it’s fair to assume West was a massive favorite entering the contest. But that wasn’t the case. Chugiak actually defeated West earlier in the season, 28-21. The difference for West on Friday was a startling seven turnovers created, including five interceptions. The best of the bunch came from Maijun Strong, with an assist from Darian Lawson.
