Nicole Coppolino pitched eight innings with zero earned runs one walk and nine strikeouts leading Raritan to a 2-1 Shore Conference Class A Central win over Manasquan on Monday morning. The Rockets (2-2) struck first in the third inning after Daniella Marino single and steal to second. Marino eventually advanced to third and scored on a wild pitch.
The Warriors (1-1) tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning after Olivia Galinas scored off an RBI single from Quinn Saito.
The speed of Raritan’s Brianna Rinaldi gave the Rockets the lead in the top of the eighth inning. After a lead off single, Michelle Nestor sacrificed Rinaldi to second. Rinaldi then stole third base and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Coppolino shut the door on the Warriors in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Manasquan’s Victoria Galvan pitched eight inning with two earned runs and 12 strikeouts.
Matawan 7, Wall 0: Lauren Conroy was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double, Hadassah Curry went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Sam Buchman went 2-for-2 with one RBI and Tracey Brereton went 2-for-3 with three runs scored as the Huskies (2-0) defeated the Crimson Knights (1-1). Erin Powers (2-0) went seven innings, gave up two hits, struck out nine and walked one.
Middletown South 13, Howell 3: Sophomore Kayla Gallo went 3-for-4 with 5 RBI and Junior Christine Gebhardts also drove in four runs leading the Lions (3-1) over the Rebels (1-1) in a Class A North game. Nikki Alfano score four runs for the Lions.
Marlboro 12, Freehold 0: Melanie Beul recorded the win over five innings leading the Mustangs over the Colonials in Class A North action. Junior Bonnie Picone hit two triples and Lindsey Fhima also hit a home run for the Mustangs in the win.
Toms River South 8, St. Rose 0: Taylor Leuck recorded the win after seven innings pitched six strikeouts and one hit leading the Indians over the Purple Roses. Harley Gowdy went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, and Hailey Tomaro also added a three-run home run for the Indians.
Mater Dei Prep 16, Keansburg 1: The Serpahs scored 11 runs in the first inning picking up a Class B Central win over the Titans. Kayley Anthony went 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored, and Paige Fernandez also picked up her second win of the season with five innings pitched and six strikeouts.
Middletown South 8, Manalapan 0: Tiffani Lambert went 2-for-2 with 3 RBI, and Julia Blarr also added two RBI leading the Eagles over the Braves in a Class A North game. Maddie McMahon picked up the win striking out 11 batters and holding the Braves to just four hits.
Ocean 13, Colts Neck 1: Veronica Woehr hit two home runs and finished with five RBI leading the Spartans to a Class B North win over the Cougars. Emma Vasen also recorded 4 RBI and Morgan Walsh also added 3 more RBI for the Spartans in the win.
Red Bank Catholic 9, Neptune 0: Gabby Bram and Colby Coppola combined for a three-hit shutout leading the Caseys over the Scarlet Fliers in a Class B North matchup. Bram also recorded four doubles in the win for the Caseys.
