Shutts won in relief in Game 1, when Nick Hart drove in Hayden Medich with the winning run with a single in the sixth inning. Hart finshed with two singles.

Shutts pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief of Seth Mirgon, who allowed four earned runs in 4 2/3.

Travis Johnston had a pair of singles and scored twice for Rosecrans.

The Tornadoes scored 11 fifth-inning runs in the nightcap to break open a 3-0 game, which saw Shutts toss a three-hitter in a five-inning mercy.
