The weather was cold but the bats of the St. Joseph Catholic Central softball team were hot Wednesday. The Crimson Streaks had nine hits in a 6-0 win over St. Wendelin.

Ashley Burns led the offense by going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Be Reardon and Josie Weickert each had two hits, including a double, and Natalie Zyski had two hits and two RBIs.

Reardon got the shutout win pitching seven innings allowing just three walks and no walks with five strikeouts as SJCC improved to 9-4 overall, 3-1 in the Sandusky River League.

“The defense was solid with our lowest total errors yet this season, only committing one on the day,” SJCC coach Sarrah Ottney said.
