Somerset Tech 8, Manville 7 (8 innings): Abby Manuel singled in Rebeka Quagliato and later scored on an RBI groundout by Mahogany Hayes in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Somerset Vo-Tech School softball team grabbed a dramatic victory Monday, 8-7 over Manville.
After the Manville tied the game with two runs in the top of the seventh inning, the Mustangs scored again, in the top of the eighth, to take a 7-6 lead. Quagliato then led off the bottom of the eighth for the Jags with a walk, stole second and scored on Manuel’s knock. Tara Lardiere then doubled to put runners on second and third, before Hayes hit a grounder to the right side to chase Manuel home with the winner.
Manuel finished 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and three RBIs, while Yesha Parekh added a single, double, triple and drove in two runs. Hayes also drove in two for the Jags (4-3).
Julie Pankowski posted three hits, including a double, and scored two runs for Manville, while Megan Mack doubled twice and scored a pair. Victoria Schuyler added two hits, two runs and two RBIs for the Mustangs (2-6).
Immaculata 5, Delaware Valley 4: Freshman pitcher Alanna Pearson struck out 10 and walked one for the win and went 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored to lead Immaculata. Fran Torraca finished 3-for-4 with an RBI triple for the Spartans (5-6). Ashley Britt was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Shelby Koches added two hits, including a two-run single in the first inning and double in the sixth for Delaware Valley (7-7).
Bridgewater-Raritan 7, Somerville 2: Samantha Mazzagotti had a day in her varsity debut, picking up three hits, including a triple, run and RBI, and earning the victory with 3 1/3 innings in the circle. Megan Zinn and Cat DeStefano posted two hits and two RBIs apiece for the Panthers (10-2), while Deanna Centi added two hits and two runs in the victory. Kim Camacho notched a single, double and two runs and Veronica Dobranski picked up two singles and two RBIs for Somerville (3-9).
Bound Brook 20, South Hunterdon 0 (4 innings): Senior catcher Megan Kranz went off, going 4-for-4 with three homers and 10 RBIs as Bound Brook rolled. Megan Tomaselli added three hits, three runs and two RBIs, while Aimee Sarabouh chipped in a single, double, three runs and three RBIs for the Crusaders (10-0). Casey Towle, Meagan Warner, Myranda Bond and Peyton Bond all singled for South Hunterdon (3-6).
West Morris 7, Voorhees 3: Tara Morash went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Erin Hollyfield, Hannah Schiavo and Sarah Furka drove in runs for Voorhees (7-5).
Dayton 8, Union Catholic 5: Lea Gurval posted three hits and two runs, and Kirsten Burr knocked in two runs, but Union Catholic fell to 4-9. Jenny Herron chipped in two hits, a run and an RBI for the Vikings.
