Somerville 4, Belvidere 0: Haley Naftal recorded a shutout for her first varsity win, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out four to lift the Somerville High School softball team to a 4-0 victory over Belvidere on Thursday at Torpey Field. Veronica Dobranski went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, while Natalie Pinho finished 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Amanda Kim added a solo home run for the Pioneers (2-5). Jazley Szierer singled and scored a run in the victory.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood 2, Roselle Park 1: Jessica Waltsak allowed just a run on six hits, walked three and struck out three to lift Scotch Plains-Fanwood. Waltsak also singled and drove in a run for the Raiders (5-3), while Kyra Lockhart finished 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Julie DiGiacomo singled, tripled and scored a run in the victory.
Voorhees 15, Delaware Valley 3: Hannah Schiavo allowed four hits while striking out 11 for Voorhees, which scored seven times in the top of the seventh inning to pull away. Schiavo also posted three hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs, while Morgan Clemens singled, blasted two homers and drove in four runs for the Vikings (5-2). Sarah Zengel ripped a two-run single and Amanda O’Brien added an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh for Delaware Valley 6-3.
Bernards 11, Pingry 0: Holly Lallis spun a two-hit shutout, walking none and striking out seven for Bernards. Caroline Baratta went 2-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs, while Emily Dean added a single, run and three RBIs for the Mountaineers (6-2). Amanda Van Orden singled and Katie Marino doubled for Pingry (3-3), which committed seven errors. Marino allowed just three earned runs on eight hits, walked three and struck out 12.
Rahway 4, Dayton 1: Tuffany Rivera allowed no earned runs on just five hits, walked two and struckout two for Rahway. Alexandra Concepcion posted two hits and two RBIs, while Aliyah Shell added a double and a homer for the Indians (6-3).
Plainfield 16, Roselle Catholic 0: Arianna Diaz went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Janayda Spencer went 4-for-4 with two RBIs for Plainfield. Ariel Brown finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Diaz allowed one walk and struck out seven to earn the victory for the Cardinals (2-4).
Union 3, Union Catholic 1: Naya Hodge homered in the fifth inning to account for Union Catholic’s scoring, while Tyanna Reynolds allowed just one earned run on six hits, walked two and struck out six for the Vikings (3-6).
A.L. Johnson 9, Governor Livingston 2: Katie Debbie went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Steph Bade doubled and drove in a run for Governor Livingston (6-2). A.L. Johnson is 8-0.
