Kristen Santoro, Julia Rusak, Chelsea Howard each helped the Lacey softball team in its 8-3 Class A South win over Toms River North on Thursday, which clinched the Class A South title, according to Lacey coach Tom Faulkner.

In the first inning, Santoro had a sacrifice fly. In the fifth inning, Chelsea Howard blasted a two-run home run. In the sixth inning, the Lions added insurance runs as Rusak had a two-run double and Howard had an RBI-single. Lacey’s Emily Dezendorf finished with three hits, Kayla Kohout had a triple and Howard (15-3) allowed only five hits.

Toms River North’s Jade Warner had an RBI-double in the first and Taylor Ward had an RBI-single in the seventh.

Jackson Liberty 15, Barnegat 4: In the first inning, Brianna Holder had a two-run double, Annabelle Santino and Alexys Fatovic each had RBI-singles. Overall, Ashley Eckett went 3-for-4 with one RBI, Holder went 4-for-5 with three RBI, Kayla Conners went 3-for-5 with three RBI, Meghan Conroy went 2-for-5 with two RBI, Fatovic went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Santino went 2-for-4 with two RBI . Barnegat’s Marissa Stadtmauer had an RBI-single.

Middletown South 1, Raritan 0: In the fourth inning, Nicki Curran had a leadoff single, Maddie McMahon had a sacrifice bunt and Julia Blarr had an RBI-single for the game-winning play as the Eagles (14-4) defeated the Rockets (14-6). McMahon (9-1) struck out 11 and allowed five hits. Raritan’s Alexa Sammarco went 2-for-3, Nicole Kirse went 2-for-3 and Daniella Marino went 1-for-3. Nicole Coppolino (12-6) struck out four.

Mater Dei 11, Ranney 1: Maggie Klatt picked up her third win in the circle going six innings allowing one earned run on five hits and one walk. Klatt helped her own cause going 2 for 3 at the plate including 2 doubles (the 2nd double in the bottom of the 6th with 2 outs & 2 on which ended the game via the 10-run rule), 2 walks and 3 RBI’s. . Anna Csiky went 1 for 3 on the dayand scored the only run for Ranney on an RBI single by Cioffi. Lexi Redish went 5.2 innings allowing 11 runs (7 earned) on 14 hits, 4 walks and 8 strikeouts.

Pinelands 2, Point Boro 1: With the win the Wildcats clinch the Class B South title according to head coach Keith Lowe. Naomi Stas picked up her 16th win of the season with six strikeouts in the win for the Wildcats.

Central 11, Lakewood 1: Central’s Emma Fitzgerald went 3-4 with 3 runs scored, and Stephanie Pepper (9-7) also went 3-4 with a double while scoring three times. She also had 1 RBI. Lakewood’s Yazzmin Sunnerville went 2-3 as well as Cathy Rivera. Lakewood’s run came from Crystal Mendez who hit a single which led to an error which allowed her to score. Pepper

Matawan 5, Manasquan 4: Meghan Rutch went 1-for-2 with two RBI, Lauren Conroy went 1-for-1 with one RBI and Erin Powers (12-4) allowed three hits and struck out four.

Neptune 3, St Rose 0: With the game scoreless in the top of the 5th Neptune’s Katy McGovern hit a 2 run single en route to a 3 run inning. McGovern pitched a complete game for Neptune, allowing 5 hits while striking out 4. Brianna McInerney pitched a complete game for St. Rose, striking out 12. Lynelle Scanlon had a 2B and Kristin Case went 2 – 3 for St. Rose.
