Christine LaRochelle pitched a complete game, allowed nine hits, struck out two, and scored two runs Saturday to lead Bishop Ahr to an 8-5 victory over East Brunswick in East Brunswick.
Amanda Julve and Katie Eicher each had a pair of hits as the Trojans jumped out to an 8-2 lead. Ragen Reddick ripped a two-out two-run single in the second inning to extend the lead.
East Brunswick scored three runs in the 6th, and loaded the bases to get the go-ahead run to the plate, but LaRochelle got out of the threat with a groundout.
Brenna Razzano, Alyssa Ippolito and Lauren Assennata each had two hits for the Bears.
Piscataway 2, South Brunswick 1: Sara Ogilvie earned the win with a complete-game three hitter, walking just one. She also scored a run and drove in another. Emily Brown went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Caitlyn Erdman had a hit and run scored for the Chiefs (2-0). South Brunswick is 0-2.
South Plainfield 19, Carteret 1: Caroline Ratti was 2-for 3 with four RBI a run scored and a double for South Plainfield (3-0). Katherine Vill (3-0) was the winning pitcher and MaKayla Sosa drove in three runs. South Plainfield had 20 hits.
Woodbridge 14, John F. Kennedy 8: Kendra Tobias went 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored and Jordan Vazquez had three hits and two runs scored for Woodbridge (1-1). Justine Stefura had two runs scored and a double for the Barrons. Mackenzie Thomas went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a double. Emily Velez went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a double for John F. Kennedy (1-1). Ashley Conroy had three runs scored and a hit for the Mustangs.
Metuchen 11, North Brunswick 4: Winning pitcher Molly O’Connor struck out eight over seven innings for Metuchen (2-0). Sophomore second basemen Tina Czochanski went 3-for-4 with a homer and six RBI. Freshman left fielder Julie Pirro went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. Brooke Bandola went 2-for-3 and senior shortstop Liane Cifrodelli went 3-for-4. Rebecca Colandrea and Angela Colandrea homered for North Brunswick.
Colonia 16, Perth Amboy 2: Perth Amboy took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first on Darius Valerio’s two-run double2 RBI double. Colonia answered in the third inning with a lead off home run by Kate Brannigan, and RBI double by Julie Wright scoring Jill Mizak. Gaby Perez.then had an RBI hit. Mizak and Brannigan had three hits each. Wright drove in three runs. uli Taylor Godfrey allowed just two hits after the first inning, finishing with four strikeouts and walks.
J.P. Stevens 5, Edison 3: Julie Siecinski’s double to left scored Kayla Smith and Gabby Young — who had both singled – to give the Hawks a 2-0 first inning lead. Rebecca DiSerio made it 3-0 with a long homer to left center in the third. She later made it 4-1 with a sacrifice fly. Smith singled later and scored the Hawks’ fifth run on Amanda Lombardi’s infield hit.
Bound Brook 14, Middlesex 5: Ashley Dotey went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a double for Middlesex (0-2).
Atlantic County Tech 18, Piscataway Tech 1: Nicole Cardona had Piscataway Tech’s only hit.
