Softball: Lightning disrupts Lee game

By

Robert E. Lee’s softball team had just scored seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 16-9 lead Monday when lightning curtailed its extra-inning game with Spotswood.

With the Blazers batting in their half of the ninth, the game was suspended. The status of the remainder of the contest is in the hands of the two school’s athletic directors.

Lee scored all of its runs in bunches, with nine in the sixth and seven in the ninth. When it erupted for its nine-run sixth, the Lee Ladies trailed the Blazers 4-0.

For the game, Lee banged out 18 hits.

Cheyenne Armstrong led the way with four hits and two RBI. Kodie Taylor had three hits and three RBI.

Amber Johnson, Tyler-Ann Irvine, and Jesse Bartley each had two hits.

Lee is home with Turner Ashby on Tuesday.
