• Camden Catholic 4, Red Bank Catholic 1: The 12th-seeded Irish shocked the fifth-seeded Caseys behind the strong pitching of Sarah Byrnes and timely hitting of Kyra Perez and Ashley Surgner in a game that was played on Wednesday.
Perez roped a three-run homer in the sixth inning to put Camden Catholic ahead as Ashley Russell and Surgner scored on the play. Surgner added an insurance run with a RBI double in the seventh, scoring Madison Horwath.
That was all Byrnes needed as she fired a five-hitter with three strikeouts.
The Irish will travel to rival Paul VI for Tuesday’s quarterfinal showdown. The Eagles are the fourth seed.
