Playing a pair of opponents in Freedom Plains on Saturday, the Arlington High School softball team defeated Fox Lane, 8-3, before topping Suffern, 4-3.
Arlington was led by Kayla Andrews in the first game. Andrews tossed a complete game and scattered four hits, walking two batters and striking out six. At the plate, she homered and drove in two runs.
Lauren Fazio collected two hits — a double and a triple — and three RBI. Grace Jacobs collected three hits, including two doubles.
The Admirals took the second game of the twin bill with Andrew tossing five innings. She let up one run on nine hits while striking out one batter. Cori Piazza pitched the final two frames. Andrews also hit two RBI singles while Jacobs smacked a solo home run.
“Given it was our first time on the field, it was a good, solid effort from top to bottom,” Arlington coach Dave Ballantyne said. “There were lots of hits and contributions from everyone in the lineup.”
