Andrea Bombace clocked a pair of home runs — one in the second inning and a two-run homer in the sixth — as her Roy C. Ketcham High School softball team defeated Arlington in Freedom Plains, 7-0, on Tuesday.
Jessica Roe struck out three and walked three, allowing three hits. Roe was also 2 for 3 with an RBI for Ketcham (3-0).
Arlington (3-1) had three hits overall.
Poughkeepsie 11, Rondout Valley 7 — Kyzhea Singleton homered to lead the visiting Pioneers.
Jenna Salmonese pitched a complete game for the win, while also going 3 for 5 with a double. Georgie Super was 3 for 3 with a double, and Kayla West had two hits, including a double.
Poughkeepsie (3-2) hosts Wallkill on Thursday.
Pawling 15, Beacon 0 — Nicolette Smith was 5 for 5 with two triples, four RBI and three runs scored as the host Tigers shut out the Bulldogs.
Katie Meyer and Kayla Chavarri combined for a one-hit shutout over six innings for Pawling. Chavarri had four strikeouts. Lily Prinz had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored. Morgan Kelly was 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, three RBI and three runs scored. Chavarri had two hits and three RBI. Emma Heubel was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI.
Morgan Flamholtz had Beacon’s only hit, a single in the third inning.
Late Monday, Hendrick Hudson defeated Pawling, 5-1, in the Tigers’ season opener.
Arlington B 3, Our Lady of Lourdes 2 — Darlene Escoto’s single knocked in Angelina Marsella in the ninth inning of an Arlington B road win.
Anna Anderson struck out 11 batters over nine innings with two walks for Lourdes (0-2). Chloe Weeks led off the second inning for Lourdes with a triple.
Brewster 2, John Jay 1 — Jaimie Harney had two hits, including a double, but the Patriots fell to the Bears.
Jessica Harney had a hit and an RBI for John Jay (1-1). Ally Muller struck out three and walked three over seven innings for John Jay, allowing one earned run. John Jay hosts Lourdes at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
