Softball: Wilson edged by East Rock

Wilson Memorial came up agonizingly short Friday, coming up one run short in an 8-7 loss to East Rockingham.

The Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the first, but the Green Hornets fought back to tie it in the bottom of the frame. East Rock scored three more in the third to take a 6-2 lead before Wilson scored a pair in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 6-5.

East Rock added to its lead in the top of the seventh with two runs. Wilson scored twice in in the bottom of the seventh, but came up short.

Sheridan Hatfield led the Green Hornets with a 4-for-4 day. She scored three runs and had two RBI.

Sarah Sondrol and Bri Meek both had two hits for Wilson, with Meek chalking up an RBI.

The Hornets are back in action Monday at home against Luray.
