Manual's Sapienza-Wright just misses cut
South Oldham senior Cole Dowdy finished seventh in Saturday’s Foot Locker Cross Country South Regional held at McAlpine Greenway Park in Charlotte, N.C.
Dowdy posted a time of 15 minutes, 16 seconds and qualified for the Foot Locker National Championships set for Dec. 12 in San Diego. The top 10 finishers in each of four regionals qualify for the national event.
Dowdy, a University of Kentucky signee, won the Class 3-A state title Nov. 7 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington with a time of 15:20.38.
Manual sophomore Alena Sapienza-Wright was the top female finisher from Kentucky in the Foot Locker regional, placing 12th with a time of 17:54.
