We’ve got 80 wrestling teams in town for the Dual Championships at the Centreplex.
For the first time in decades the Southwest Patriots earned the right to battle it out on the mats.
Southwest’s Dalvin Andrews went up against Toombs County’s Bryson Smith.
Andrews eventually got the pin and the win, but Toombs walked away with the overall victory 46-36
But head coach Steve Koehler says getting to this stage is quite an accomplishment for his guys.
“We had a philosophy of coming in there and everything is business, Koehler explained. We build each other up we stay together as a team the leadership on our team is amazing.”
Koehler and his kids will get back on the mat in the consolation round in just a few minutes.
He says another reason as a squad they did well this year is because they had good numbers — the squad carries 35 guys.
The Duals continue Thursday night and run all day tomorrow and Saturday.
