St. John Bosco QB Re-al Mitchell goes from tough spot to first scholarship offer

A week ago, St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) sophomore quarterback Re-al Mitchell got thrown into a tough spot.

In what was one of the nation’s most-hyped games between two Top 10 teams, Mitchell was forced into action against Corona Centennial after starting quarterback Quentin Davis injured his shoulder. Davis had only led Bosco to the No. 2 ranking in the Super 25 and lopsided victories that led to running clocks in all but one game.

Bosco was down 34-10 when Davis went out, but Mitchell tried his best to keep the Braves in the game. He threw TD passes of 47 and 33 yards and also ran for a 65-yard TD.

Centennial won the game 62-52 to advance to the CIF Open Division State Bowl Championship Game.

Among the takeaways: Mitchell could be another QB star at Bosco.

While he won’t be able to sign his college letter of intent until February 2018, at least one school noticed. According to Mitchell’s Twitter feed, he received his first offer Friday from Cal Poly.

Expect many more.
