The St. Michael’s men’s soccer team is officially District Champion for the 2014-2015 season. The team was crowned District Champs in a different way than usual this past week, since both St. Michael’s and uptown rival Saint Dominic Savio were tied for District with the same number of losses. The Crusaders and Eagles played each other on two different occasions with each team winning once. However, to declare one true champion, the number of goals they had were compared. The Crusaders scored more goals across the two games than the Eagles, giving our boys the outright lead. Senior soccer player Christian Guerra says, “Being district champs is a good way to go into playoffs, especially my senior year.” The Crusaders are led by brand new men’s soccer coach, Coach Shiloh. Christian Guerra describes Coach Shiloh as “a leader who motivates the team to go out and follow the practice game plan but to have fun at the same time.” The Crusaders have earned a bye for the first week of playoffs and will continue to the second round of playoffs with a home game next Wednesday.
