
Jesuit defeated Highland Park, 8-5, in lacrosse in the final regular season match.
Jesuit controlled throughout in an 8-6 victory over No. 1-ranked Highland Park in a top-ranked lacrosse match Thursday night at Jesuit’s Postell Stadium The Rangers are peaking at the end of the regular season after early-season struggles with several players suspended for disciplinary reasons.
Jesuit led Highland Park 4-3 and led by as many as four goals after Furman Commit Sterling Coker scored the go-ahead goal to make it 5-4 early the third period. Seven players scored goals Jesuit with junior Zach Kissick getting the assist on Coker’s goal. Senior Kyle Casillas got two goals.

The Rangers’s first three were by Luke Hoffman, Sean Riley and Gavin McClure. Casillas’ first goal gave Jesuit a halftime lead before a large crowds from both schools. Highland Park scored early in the third to tie the game 4-4, and the North Carolina commit Kissick led a strong Jesuit run.
After his assist to Coker to give the Rangers the lead, Kissick then fed Casillas less than two minutes later to give Jesuit a firm grasp on the game’s momentum. Kissick then netted a goal of his own early in the fourth to extend the Ranger lead, which Blake Buell added the final goal with eight minutes to play.
The win brings Jesuit to 6-3 against opponents in the state of Texas, Jesuit, Highland Park and ESD will be vying for a state title when the Texas High School Lacrosse League playoffs begin next week.
ESD still is a major factor. The Eagles beat Jesuit, 10-6, on Tuesday after an earlier loss to Highland Park.
