“Straight Outta Compton,” a movie chronicling the rise of Los Angeles rap group N.W.A, premieres Friday. The title is also the name of the group’s most famous album, released in 1988.

The film is being heavily promoted. An ad for it even appeared during  last week’s Republican presidential debate on Fox News Channel.

The release is prompting a lot of sports memes, some hitting home in Indianapolis.

Colts tight end Dwayne Allen is proud of his Carolina upbringing.

Where is Colts cornerback Vontae Davis from?

Pacers rookie Myles  Turner was born eight years after the album’s release, but that’s OK.

Monta Ellis and C.J. Miles of the Indiana Pacers are noted for jumping from high school to the NBA.

Someone got in some digs against Indiana University basketball coach Tom Crean.

Some area high schools are already in on the act.

And don’t forget a local radio host from Southern Indiana.

Butler senior Roosevelt Jones gives it a try.

Lawrence Central senior Kyle Guy likes his look.

This one has nothing to do with Indiana sports, but it’s just too good to pass up.
