Senior softball infielder has shined on field, in classroom
USATODAYhss.com/Cleveland is proud to introduce a new feature titled “Student-athlete Shout out.” Each installment will spotlight the recent accomplishments of a deserving Northeast Ohio high school athlete.
Wadsworth’s Cara Crookston
Wadsworth High School senior Sara Crookston has excelled on the softball field and through the classroom throughout her prep career.
The two-year varsity player has shined in the batter’s box, in the field defensively and in the classroom.
“Cara is a hard worker and a coach’s dream,” Wadsworth head coach Michelle DeAngelis said. “She is a player I can count on, (both) on and off the field.”
As of May 12, the power-hitting infielder owned a .476 batting average and was leading the team in slugging percentage (762), on-base percentage (.572), hits (40), RBIs (27), doubles (8), triples (2) and home runs (4).
Crookston owns a 4.2 GPA and is involved in multiple community activities.
Wadsworth earned a Division I sectional championship with a 10-inning, 1-0 win against Hudson 1-0.
The sixth-seeded Grizzlies are set to play top-seeded Walsh Jesuit in a Barberton district tournament semifinal today at 4:30 p.m.
