Tattnall Square Academy’s girls beat rival Stratford in the region championship Saturday night.
That is a pretty good way to mark the Trojans’ return to GHSA hoops.
“I think we were ready from the get-go,” Lady Trojans’ head coach, Todd Whetsel said on Monday. “We didn’t know what to expect, but we just knew we wanted to take care of us, try to play the best basketball we could, and it certainly worked out for us this year.”
The lady Trojans now await the finalized single-A power ratings to see where they will be seeded, and who they will play in the first round of the state playoffs.
“It’s a little different,” Whetsel said. “We’re accustomed to, after the region tournament, knowing what seed you are what seed you’re going to play for another region, but that’s not the case right now. We’ll take some time, work on us, then as soon as we figure out who we’re going to play, start trying to prepare for Friday’s game.”
Since Tattnall won the region, the Trojans at least know they will have a home game in the first round. The power ratings will be finalized later in the week.
