The offers keep rolling in for freshman Marvin Bagley III
Marvin Bagley III”s recruiting has just reached another level.
Tempe Corona del Sol’s 6-foot-11 freshman received a call Monday night from Kentucky coach John Calipari, who offered a basketball scholarship.
After Bagley and his dad got off the phone, they looked at each other and both said, “Wow.”
“I just want to give God the praise,” said Bagley, azcentral sports’ Player of the Year last season, when he helped Corona del Sol go 33-1 and capture a fourth consecutive Division I championship, showing off a tremendous array of moves to the basket and a defensive prowess. “I also want to thank Coach Calipari and the University of Kentucky.”
Bagley already has 15 scholarship offers, but now it’s going into the superpowers. A year ago, he got one from Connecticut after it had captured the NCAA championship.
What’s next? Duke?
Bagley is a straight-A student.
