Chef of the Week

In sports the term “cookin” is reserved for a player who goes on a scoring spree or gets hot during a game and makes big plays on the offensive end.

This week’s “Chef of the Week” award goes Orangeville Prep (Can.) center Thon Maker for winning MVP of the prestigious NBPA Top 100 Camp last week.

Maker’s star shined the brightest all week in a camp full of elite players; that’s truly chef-like behavior.

Poster of the Week

This week’s Poster of the Week winner is The Rock School (Gainesville, Fla.) wing Troy Baxter for his big time throw down at the NBPA Top 100 Camp last week.

Baxter took a pass on the right baseline, took two hard steps and rose over a defender, who was attempting in vain to block the dunk, for the poster.

It was quite vicious.

Oh No They Didn’t!

This award is reserved for the player who turned in a mind-boggling performance or play that left the crowd in a state of shock and amazement.

This week’s “Oh No They Didn’t” winner is West Linn (West Linn, Ore.) point guard Payton Pritchard for dropping two separate defenders with his exceptional ball handling skills.

Yes, literally, dropping them.

The first one came after Pritchard, an Oklahoma commit, made a basic crossover from left to right at the top of the key. When the defender buckled and fell, Pritchard knocked down the three-pointer. Then Pritchard drove the lane and just as the defender shifted to his right side, Pritchard crossed over behind his back in the lane and down went said defender.

Pritchard finished that play off by finding his teammate in the paint for a ferocious slam.

Two ankle-breakers in the same game?

Oh yes he did.
