Two Elmira Express players and one from Corning have earned Class AA football all-state honors, as picked by the New York State Sportswriters Association.

Elmira picks were fourth-team running back Jerry McPeak and fourth-team linebacker Allaah Sessions. Corning’s Gabe Enicks was a fifth-team choice at linebacker. The selections were announced Wednesday morning.

McPeak, a 5-foot-9, 165-pound senior, earned all-state recognition for the second straight year after grabbing fifth-team honors following the 2013 season. He rushed for 1,784 yards and 31 touchdowns on 213 carries this season to finish his career with an Elmira City School District record 4,676 yards. He won the Ernie Davis Award as the top high school player in Chemung County.

“Extremely hard worker who plays tough football,” Express head coach Jimmy McCauley said of McPeak.

Sessions, a 6-foot, 200-pound junior, led Elmira with 66 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and eight quarterback sacks. He also excelled at running back, carrying the ball 114 times for 902 yards and seven touchdowns.

“Allaah was a true force in all three phases of the game,” McCauley said.

Sessions and McPeak helped Elmira to the Section 4 Division 1 regular-season title.

Enicks helped Corning capture the Section 4 Class AA title with a win over Elmira after losing to the Express during the regular season. The 6-foot, 180-pounder excelled at linebacker and running back, gaining 765 yards on 99 carries.

“On the defensive side, his athleticism and intelligence allowed us to make a variety of coverages and defensive fronts,” Corning head coach George Bacalles said.

Among those who received honorable mention as linemen were Elmira seniors Randy Banks and Dom Clark, along with Corning senior Bobby Shepard.

Senior defensive lineman T.J. Wheatley of Canisius (Monsignor Martin Association) was named Class AA Player of the Year. Senior running back Jordan Fredericks of Lawrence (Section 8) was named Class A Player of the Year.

All-state teams for classes B, C and D were previously announced.
