Boys basketball: Rhinelander at Mosinee, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday: It’s a must-win for Mosinee as the Hodags can clinch a share of the Great Northern Conference title with a victory. The Hodags are 10-9 overall, but 9-0 in conference play. Mosinee (13-6, 7-2 GNC) is tied for second in the GNC and fell to Rhinelander by six points on Jan. 6. Mosinee heads into the matchup on an eight-game winning streak. It is the first of a three-game home stretch to wrap up the regular season for Mosinee.
Wrestling: Wittenberg-Birnamwood at Division 2 team sectional, 6 p.m. Tuesday at Freedom: The Chargers are vying for their second straight appearance in the WIAA state team tournament and are ranked ninth in the latest Division 2 state polls. The formidable field includes host Freedom, the No. 1 team in the state, and also No. 6 Two Rivers. Unranked Ripon rounds out the field and is the Chargers’ semifinal opponent.
Girls hockey: Point/Rapids at Tomahawk, 6 p.m., Thursday at Sara Park: It’s a matchup of a No. 4 and No. 5 seeds in the opening round of Sectional 2, and the third time that the teams have met this season. Point/Rapids scored an overtime win at Sara Park earlier this season, but Tomahawk earned a 3-0 win in Stevens Point last week behind a 45-save performance by goalie Erin Sparks.
