Boys basketball: Almond-Bancroft at Port Edwards, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Port Edwards High School: Port Edwards, the two-time defending Central Wisconsin Conference-10 champs, are 2-0 as are the Eagles, one of the teams that will try to knock the Blackhawks off their perch on top of the mountain. Noah Kollock is averaging 13 points per game for A-B, while Jared Joslin averages 31 per game to lead the Blackhawks.
Boys hockey: Wisconsin Rapids at Appleton United, 7 p.m. Friday: The Raiders take a break from their Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule with a nonconference game at Appleton. Rapids is 4-1 and 1-0 in the WVC and is getting some outstanding play from its freshman class, namely keeper Tanner Reany and Colton Flammini, who scored the overtime game-winner against D.C. Everest. Appleton is 3-0 and competes in the Badgerland Conference.
Wrestling: Wisconsin Raids at Battle on the Bay, 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Bay Port: This is the first real challenge for the Raiders, who dispatched D.C. Everest 48-22 during last week’s Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet opener. Rapids finished second to Freedom at last year’s event, and Matrix Jisko, Patrick Spray and Brock Benitz all placed second.
