For the past few years, Southwest Florida Christian Academy boosters and parents have worked to raise funds so football players could experience Friday night lights.

The dream became a reality this week as SFCA received a substantial donation to install lights on the football/soccer field by May 29, the night of the Kings’ spring football game.

“SFCA’s incredible athletic program now has more opportunity to shine,” Head of School Lisa Kleinmann said. “Lights on the football/soccer complex is just another enhancement to our thriving K-12 Christian school program. It is an achievement of which the whole community can be proud.”

Athletic director and football coach Mike Marciano estimated the lighting project will cost around $200,000. Boosters and parents’ fundraising efforts came up way short of the goal.

That is where the donor, who Marciano said could only be described as a supporter of Christian education and the Florida High School Athletic Association, came in. Marciano declined to reveal the exact amount of the donation.
