Neville’s Donald Jenkins (4) carries the ball for the Tigers against the Tioga Indians Friday night in Monroe.

Neville used 11 ball carriers, four of them scoring touchdowns, to run for 297 yards in a 45-0 rout of Tioga in the final home game of the regular season.

“Any time you see a lot of your team get on the field, it’s a good thing,” Neville coach Mickey McCarty said.

The Tigers scored all 45 of those points in the first half on rushing touchdowns from DeMaine Riley, Donald Jenkins, Jaiden Cole and Kenneth Johnson.

Neville added to the onslaught with a 40-yard field goal from Charlie Barefoot in the first quarter and a blocked punt that Robert Williams recovered in the end zone for the touchdown. With just over a minute left in the first half, Jaiden Cole connected with Deshun Roberson for a 91-yard touchdown, the longest play from scrimmage for the Tiger offense this season.

“We got off to a good start, scored some points early,” McCarty said. “Another special teams score was really big.”

Jenkins led all Neville rushers with 103 yards on seven carries and Johnson added 99 yards on five carries.

The Neville defense held Tioga to 187 yards of total offense in its second straight shutout, its third of the season.

Fast start: Neville’s first five offensive plays and eight of its first 11 went for a first down with only one pass attempt.

Scoring quick: All five of Neville’s touchdown drives lasted five or fewer plays: five plays, three plays, five plays, four plays and two plays, in that order. Neville’s drive that ended with Barefoot’s field goal was its longest scoring drive, lasting nine plays.

Night of celebration: The Tigers honored its senior class before the game that now has a 33-2 record after the win over Tioga. The Tigers also celebrated its junior varsity team that just completed an undefeated season.

To the road: Neville ends its regular season with two road games, first at West Ouachita then at Franklin Parish.
