Lauryn Schuber, Brielle Cerchio and Jade Warner led the No. 8 seed Toms River North softball team to a 4-1 victory over No. 25 seed Point Beach in a Shore Conference Tournament first round game on Thursday afternoon.
Schuber (12-7) struck out three batters, Brielle Cerchio went 3-for-4 with a double, and Jade Warner went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Point Beach’s Kellyann Ohlinger had a double and Kylee Kells (10-8) had two strikeouts.

Middletown North 10, Mater Dei Prep 0: Christine Gebhardt went 4-for-4 with four RBI, Kayla Gallo hit a solo home run and Riley Kernan went 3-for-4 with four RBI and tossed a three-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts as the Lions defeated the Seraphs in a first round game.
Brick Memorial 7, Monmouth 4: Jourdyn Rochinski went 1-for-3 with three RBI, Hannah Kowalski went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Allie Immerso went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Jessica Bormann (10-4) struck out one as the No. 13 seed Mustangs (11-9) edged the No. 20 seed Falcons (12-9) in a first round game. Monmouth’s Jadelyn Eggleston went 2-for-3 and Jessica Pszeniczyny went 1-for-3 and also struck out one batter.

Manchester 13, Rumson-Fair Haven 3: Manchester jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning on RBI-hits by Alyssa Hampton, Julia Ott and Mallory Wettengel. Anja Kane also had three hits, two of which were doubles.
In NJSIAA softball games
Raritan 11, Delaware Valley 1: Bethany Budner went for 2-for-3 and had a solo homer to give Raritan (18-6) a 1-0 lead in the second inning. It was her 100th career hit. Nicole Kirse had two home runs and had six RBI. She had a two-run home run in the third and a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Brianna Rinaldi went 2-for-3 with two doubles and Alexa Sammarco went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Nicole Coppolino (15-6) allowed six hits, no earned runs, one walk and she struck out two.
In NJSIAA boys tennis
Hopewell Valley 4, Wall 1: Christopher McEwan picked up the lone victory for the Crimson Knights (18-3) at third singles. McEwan defeated Hopewell Valley’s Harrison Fu, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the Central Group III semifinal match.
Holmdel 5, Manasquan 0: Mike Chen, Dennis Barlotta and Harrison Lin helped the Hornets sweep the singles matches as the Hornets (23-4) defeated the Warriors in the Central Group II semifinal match.
Rumson-Fair Haven 4, Robbinsville 1: David Weltz defeated Revanth Korrapolu 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4) at first singles and Chris Caroli defeated Dan Goldstein, 6-1, 7-5, at third singles for the Bulldogs in a the Central Group II semifinal match.
In boys volleyball
Central 2, Keyport 0: Nicholas Ropas had 19 assists, Charles Homoki added two blocks and eight digs and Chris Sloan had three kills and six digs as the Golden Eagles (9-5) defeated the Red Raiders (0-14) in a Class A Central match. Keyport’s Gadiel Escobar had four assists, Kyle Lewis added three kills and three digs and Pascual Cuahuizo and Uriel Trejo each had three digs.
Howell 2, Freehold 0: Jacob Brown had 14 kills and three digs, Scott Payne had 16 assists and three blocks and Kyle Bosko added four blocks as the Rebels (11-6) edged the Colonials (6-12) in a Class A North match. Freehold’s Riley Shea had two kills and two digs, Harry Biddle had three kills, two blocks and four digs and Jake Dente had four kills.
Colts Neck 2, Marlboro 0: The Cougars’s Jeremy Brown had seven kills and two digs, Chris Lomauro added six kills and four digs and Lucas Inglis had 23 assists for the Cougars (15-5). Marlboro’s Zach Jay had 11 assists, three blocks and three digs, Brandon Enny had 25 digs, Mike Jastrebski had five kills and two blocks for the Mustangs (6-12).
