Centennial (Corona, Calif.) moved up a spot to No. 5 in the Super 25 football rankings, putting three teams on Pacific Standard Time in the top five of the Super 25. Centennial continued its rise with a 59-7 win Friday at Roosevelt (Eastvale) as running back J.J. Taylor ran for 133 yards and four touchdowns in the first half.
The top team is still Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), who won 63-7 at Legacy (North Las Vegas) as quarterback Tate Martell threw five touchdown passes on Friday. The Gaels have a stronger test this week when they play host to Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.). While the Ironmen are 4-2 and not ranked, they knocked Rummel (Metairie, La.) out of the Super 25 earlier this season.
St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) remains at No. 2, looking strong in its 42-21 defeat of Mater Dei, as running back Sean McGrew ran for 213 yards and two touchdowns Friday night. No. 3 Allen, Texas, did not play and No. 4 Colquitt County (Moultrie, Ga.) improved to 8-0 as Chase Parrish threw three touchdown passes in a 49-14 defeat of Valdosta.
The only new team in the rankings is No. 18 Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.), which defeated then-No. 5 DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville) 24-14 on Friday as Tyree Randolph ran for two touchdowns.
