Fremont Ross’s Amber Otermat was recognized as the Three Rivers Athletic Conference’s ‘Athlete of the Year’ for 2015 at Friday’s conference championships held at Findlay.

The Little Giants’ girls took third with 106 points. Oregon Clay won with 122, followed by Findlay at 108.

Otermat, who was a stand-out pole vaulter this season, won the event at Friday’s conference meet by clearing 11-feet, 3-inches. Vanashia Elkins took first in the 200 dash (25.4 seconds) and ran anchor on the winning 4X100 relay (50.38). Imani Elkins, Derae James and Aeriana Whittaker also ran on the 4X100. Dejsha Pettiford finished first in the long jump (17-013/4).

Ross’s boys finished fourth with 91 points. St. John’s Jesuit won with 125, followed by Findlay at 114 and Toledo Whitmer at 97.

Elijah Johnson won the 110 hurdles in 14.91 seconds for the Little Giants, while teammate Jeffery Barnett was first in both the 300 hurdles (39.17) and the long jump (22-071/4).
