Arlington High School’s girls track and field team won the Section 1 League A meet, which concluded late Tuesday in Freedom Plains.
For the Admirals, Bella Burda won the 800-meter run (2:19.35) and 1,500 run (4:45.27). Other winners for Arlington were Naomi Salazar (200 dash, 26.74), Annie Geiger (400 intermediate hurdles, 1:10.02), Angela Hidalgo (pentathlon, 2,085 points), the 1,600 relay of Allie Coon, Molly Sobolewski, Andrea Sorna and Kylie McFall (4:07.35) and the 3,200 relay of Meghan LaTuso, Julia Sclafani, McFall and Christina Prater-Lee (10:11.70).
Deanna Newman was a triple-winner for John Jay, which finished second in team scoring. Newman placed first in the pole vault (8 feet), long jump (15-10 ½) and javelin (86-6). Khiara Young won the 100 dash (12.77) and 400 dash (59.12) for John Jay. Megan Kohl won the high jump (5-0) and triple jump (32-9 ½). Epiphanie Reddick won the shot put (31-10) and discus (86-1). John Jay’s 400 relay of Lauren Bailey, Erin Theiller, Deanna Lomino and Mercedes Junior won in 54.34.
Ketcham placed fourth in team scoring. Riva Scheck won the 100 high hurdles in 16.79.
Dover wins at tri-meet
— Hosting Poughkeepsie and Rhinebeck Wednesday, the Dover High School girls track and field team beat both visitors.
The Dragons defeated Poughkeepsie, 125-9, and picked up a 113-22 win over Rhinebeck.
Kate Sanchirico won the 400 for the Dragons (1:10.80) while Leticia Preciado took first in the 800 (3:02.1).
Stephanie Cassens won the 100 (13.0) and 200 (27.0) for Rhinebeck against Dover.
Franklin D. Roosevelt sweeps dual meet — Morgan Beers won the 400 intermediate hurdles (1:22.7) and pole vault (8-0) as the host Presidents beat Webutuck 127-13 and defeated Spackenkill 123-17.
Spackenkill defeated Webutuck 59-24. Sara Friedland won the 200 dash (28.7) and long jump (16-2).
Boys track and field
John Jay’s Matt Goldsmith was a double winner, placing first in the long jump (20-6) and triple jump (43-6) as John Jay placed second to Lakeland/Walter Panas in the Section 1 Class A championships, which concluded late Tuesday in Freedom Plains.
Other winners for John Jay were Nate Diedrick (110 high hurdles, 15.19) and Hugh Huggins (high jump, 5-9).
Arlington placed third. James Asselmeyer won the 800 run (2:02.68) and 1,600 run (4:28.62). Other winners for Arlington were David Brickman (pentathlon, 2,271 points) and the 3,200 relay of Mark Richter, Skyler Rubin, Alex Wang and Eric Sbrollini (8:34.09).
Ketcham placed fifth. John Andersen won the shot put (50-5 ¼) and discus (149-10).
Dover sweeps tri-meet
— The Dover High School boys track and field team swept a tri-meet at home Wednesday. The Dragons beat Poughkeepsie, 94-42, then topped Rhinebeck, 112-24.
Against Poughkeepsie, Colin Belanger won the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.4), Jayson Strother won the 110 hurdles (17.4) and Owen Vincent won the triple jump (40-06).
Jordan Finch won the long jump (20-02) and the 200 dash (23.3) for the Pioneers.
Dover’s Jeffrey Haegler won the 400 against Rhinebeck (56.7).
Poughkeepsie also toppled Rhinebeck, 62-29.
Roosevelt sweeps dual meet — Joseph McKeon won the 110 high hurdles (16.8), high jump (5-9) and long jump (20-4) as the host Presidents beat Spackenkill 124-17 and topped Webutuck 138-3.
Spackenkill defeated Webutuck 55-48.
New Paltz 83, Wallkill 58 — Lorenzo Mazzuca won the 800 run (2:01.4), 1,600 run (4:49.9) and 3,200 run (10:16.8) as the visiting Huguenots won.
