He was offered by the University of Tennessee before he even played a down of high school football.

On Saturday, after vising Florida State University, North Fort Myers sophomore running back Zaquandre White verbally committed to the Seminoles.

The 6-foot, 206-pound running back, who ran for “nearly 1,000 yards last year,” according to Red Knights head coach Earnest Graham, impressed Florida State coaches on film alone.

White’s father, Zacharias, said the Seminoles watched White’s Hudl tape and felt confident enough to offer the running back a spot in the Class of 2017.

“Most players at Florida State, you have to be four or five stars to get an offer,” Zacharias White said. “Besides that, they like his ability and getting media attention, everybody now wants to know who this kid is. Hopefully, he’ll keep working on his end and he does what he has to do. If anything does change, they’ll still know about this guy.”

In January, White worked out at a regional Rivals combine, running a 40-yard-dash in 4.4 seconds, his father said.

“The process has just begun,” Zacharias said. “He still has go to go hard.”

Graham noted that although White committed, the recruiting process will still continue if White continues to excel on the field.

“It doesn’t change the process at all,” Graham said.

“It will give him a chance to focus and avoid all the off-the-field distractions,” Graham added. “It’s great for him personally. But all of the schools, they’ll all still recruit him.”

White also has offers from Miami, Louisville, Florida Atlantic, the University of South Florida and Tennessee.
