Two Oxford High School football players were arrested for their alleged involvement in an auto theft, an Oxford Police Department spokesperson confirmed to The Clarion-Ledger.

The Oxford Eagle first reported that Chargers running back Kenzie Phillips and wide receiver Kyree White, both 18 years old, were arrested on burglary charges by an officer with the Oxford Police Department at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The Clarion-Ledger confirmed that both seniors will be held overnight in the Lafayette County Detention Center.

Chargers coach Johnny Hill declined comment.

“At this time I’m not going to say anything until I know all of the facts,” Hill told The Clarion-Ledger.

Phillips, a second-team All-State selection, finished the 2014 season with 1,782 rushing yards on 206 carries and recorded 34 touchdowns. White tallied 824 receiving yards and eight touchdowns as a junior. The Chargers reached the Class 5A championship game in 2013 and 2014.

Riley Blevins contributed to this report.
