It’s hardly breaking news that Ty Postell resigned at Woodlands, with the announcement coming July 2 via MSG Varsity’s Jordan Griffith, but we held off on a post because — as custom with a coaching change — we wanted to reach the coach for comments on the decision. Postell did not respond to phone calls or text messages by Journal News staff over the last week.
Postell’s resignation is an interesting decision, coming just months after a Journal News investigation revealed that one of Woodlands’ eighth-grade players was on the team while living in Rockland, with no paperwork filed to allow the action. The player identified Postell personally in saying that he recruited her to the Greenburgh-based team.
Postell, who denied the claims, was the girl’s travel baseball coach.
Postell led the Falcons to their first section title in program history in 2013-14 after taking over his first full season a year prior. A source with knowledge of the situation said Postell currently has plans to coach at a non-Section 1 girls basketball program.
