Ashland Blazer High School senior pitcher/outfielder Megan Hensley has been named the Gatorade Kentucky Softball Player of the Year for the second straight season.

Hensley, a University of Louisville signee, carried a 22-7 record and 0.73 ERA into Thursday’s State Tournament opener against Notre Dame in Owensboro, Ky. She had posted 322 strikeouts in 202 innings and also was batting .446 with 16 home runs and 44 RBIs.

The award recognizes athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character on and off the field. Hensley has a 4.22 grade-point average and is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta math honor society.
