Scout has released its first Top 100 for the football Class of 2017, and three SEC commits top the list of rising high school juniors.
University Laboratory (Baton Rouge, La.) athlete Dylan Moses, who committed to LSU early in his freshman year of high school, tops the chart. He stands at nearly 6-2 and weighs 220 pounds, while running a 4.45-second 40-yard dash. He was the first freshman to be given a five-star rating by Scout back in April 2014.
At No. 2 is Dr. Phillips (Orlando) offensive tackle Calvin Ashley, who committed to Auburn just more than a month ago. He stands a 6-foot-6, 307 pounds, and could have a claim at the No. 1 spot in future rankings.
“Dylan Moses is at the top and that likely is not a surprise nationally,” national recruiting analyst Chad Simmons said in the release. “Dylan has been on the national scene since middle school and he has not disappointed on the high school level. This race is far from over though. Calvin Ashley is an elite offensive tackle out of Orlando and not only is he ranked No. 2 in the south, but nationally as well. Both will be at The Opening Finals next week, so this race is on.”

Rounding out the top three is Antioch (Calif.) running back Najee Harris. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound back is the top prospect out West and an Alabama commit.
“Harris is the top overall prospect in the West and the top back in the country,” national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins said in the release. “He has a rare combination of size, speed, hands and power and can run away from a defender as well.”
Six of the seven remaining prospects in the Top 10 haven’t committed to a school, and the lone verbal in that group is No. 6 Shawn Robinson, a quarterback from Guyer (Denton, Tex.) who pledged to TCU last week. Others in the elite group include No. 4 DeAngelo Gibbs, an athlete from Peachtree Ridge (Suwanee, Ga.) and fifth-ranked Devon Hunter, an athlete from Indian River (Chesepeake, Va.).
Following them is Robinson, St. Thomas Aquinas (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) wide receiver Trevon Grimes; Graham Kapowsin (Graham, Wash.) offensive tackle Foster Sarell; North Canyon (Phoeniz, Az.) offensive tackle Austin Jackson; and Mt. Carmel (Baltimore) defensive end Joshua Kaindoh.
