The Big Smoky Mountain Conference and Little Smoky Mountain Conference tournaments are the latest local basketball casualties of this week’s wintry weather.
Andrews (BSMC) and Highlands (LSMC) announced Thursday that their 1-A tournaments must be canceled entirely.
In the case of the LSMC, the league needs a minimum of two days to get in games with playoff-seeding implications.
The NCHSAA said Wednesday it will go forth with its original plan to seed the state playoffs on Saturday. That means that any conference tournaments who need to play tiebreaker games must be done by Friday.
The Mountain Athletic Conference 3-A and Western North Carolina Athletic Conference 2-A/3-A cancelled their tournaments on Wednesday.
Thursday night’s Western Highlands Conference 1-A/2-A semifinal games at Mountain Heritage have also been postponed. The WHC will not only championship games only on Friday.
