As part of efforts to expand coverage of the nation’s top high school football states and programs, USA TODAY High School Sports has formed a partnership with TexasHSFootball.com.
USA TODAY High School Sports (USATODAYhss.com) will receive nationally relevant content from TexasHSFootball.com and will create a branded page for Texas football on its site. USA TODAY HSS also will provide support and promotion and will help to drive traffic and awareness of TexasHSFootball.com.
“We are very excited about our partnership with USA TODAY and growing our network stronger inside Texas and other regions of the United States,” said J. Ronald Oswalt, the chief executive officer and associate publisher of TexasHSFootball.com.
“Our team is ready for the challenge, and it fits with our company model of unexpected growth over the last 12 months since acquiring the 14-year old site last August. As we are closing in on 75,000 Twitter followers, with a goal of 100,000 followers by the end of the 2015 season, we believe this partnership will strengthen our website’s presence and ultimately provide TexasHSFootball.com readers the content they desire.”
Oswalt has worked in many areas of football from high school sports writer to serving as general manager for a professional indoor football team in Austin, Texas. He and partner David Phillips, the president of Sports Marketing Experts (SME), bought TexasHSFootball.com in the summer of 2014 with the desire to be a fan-friendly site for those who love high school football in the state. Phillips serves as publisher.
With the tagline, “We LIVE for TEXASHSFOOTBALL,” the new owners have led an expansion of the site’s content and reach and developed a devoted following on social media.
“If you love high school football, you can start with how they play it in Texas,” said Josh Barnett, the director of content for USA TODAY High School Sports. “Ron, David and their team have taken the site to another level since they took over ownership.
“They have been eager to get going with us and we can’t wait to share the benefits of this partnership with our audiences.”
