HIGHLANDS RANCH – Valor Christian remained a 1/2 game out of first place in the Jeffco League standings Thursday night after dominating Evergreen in overtime, beating the Cougars 64-54.

The Eagles (15-5) nearly held Evergreen (13-8) scoreless in overtime, only allowing the Cougars to score one basket as time expired in overtime.

Evergreen closed the first half on a 10-0 run, putting them ahead 28-21, but Valor opened the second half with a 9-0 run of their own to take back the lead.

With under a minute remaining in regulation and the Cougars down by three, Brady Bokelman hit from outside to force overtime after the Evergreen defense got a stop.

Valor will travel to Colorado Springs Saturday to play Cheyenne Mountain at 7 p.m., while Evergreen has played their last game of the regular season.
