In continuing to look at high school talent heading to SEC schools, Kyle Davis, a 6-foot, 3-inch, 217-pound senior receiver out of Lawrenceville, Ga., verbally committed to Auburn last month (11-25-2015).
Davis is rated 28th overall by ESPN. He’s a 5-star recruit who has also received offers from Georgia, Mississippi, LSU, Michigan State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Iowa, Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Louisville, Illinois, Indiana, Boston College, Miami (Fla.), Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
Auburn is in desperate need of a big receiver who can go downfield and make plays. The Tigers (6-6) head into the Birmingham Bowl against Memphis with one of the worst passing offenses in the SEC. Jeremy Johnson (9) and Sean White (1) combined for 10 touchdown passes as the Tigers averaged just 175.5 yards through the air this season.
Davis, who had decommitted from South Carolina in May, finished his senior season at Archer High with 47 catches for 773 yards and six touchdowns.
