Track and field region championships start this week.
In Warner Robins, the new kid on the block is trying to earn some hardware. The Veterans boys’ track team won the Houston County championship last week for the first time in school history, while the Lady Warhawks placed second at the event.
First-year co-head coach, Jeff Washington, believes his gang is ready to chase down a title.
“We wanted to build a family-like atmosphere, because if you believe in the person beside you, you’ll be better off doing your best,” Washington said. “That’s what we built – a family atmosphere. You run for your brother, you run for your sister and you do the best you can for them not just yourself.”
Girls’ region action begins Tuesday at 10am at McConnell-Talbert Stadium.
