Colerain football coach Tom Bolden took issue with a touchdown in the fourth quarter of Friday night’s game at La Salle.
The Cardinals had started the drive at their own 35 with 10:53 left in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals rattled off a 22-yard run from Jones and a 28-yard run from junior Monalo Caldwell. Colerain led 29-28.
Colerain had 1st down-and-10 on the La Salle 15 when Cardinals senior quarterback Deshaunte Jones carried the ball to the left side.
La Salle junior Jarell White forced the fumble and returned it for a touchdown 90 yards at the 9:24 mark of the fourth quarter. A two-point conversion made it 36-29.
Colerain coach Tom Bolden said he’s taking nothing away from La Salle but said his Jones should’ve been called down. He was upset with the officiating on that play and said the Cardinals could’ve went up two touchdowns instead of trailing.
“It was a bad call,” Bolden said.
Bolden told Cincinnati.com he watch it repeatedly early Saturday morning and came to the same conclusion.
La Salle coach Jim Hilvert told Cincinnati.com he didn’t see the ball from his vantage point but knew White made the tackle and was speeding down the field after the play happened.
