Football is Americana in part because its pervasive everywhere in the country. That includes schools that are truly out in the country, like Manitou Springs in Colorado, where games can sometimes be hung up by some bizarre visitors.
It’s not that the visitors in question are bizarre in themselves. In fact, they’re quite common. It’s just that they sure look out of place on a football field.
As captured by MaxPreps, a deer interrupted Manitou Springs’ football game against Florence, trotting on to the field and, eventually, requiring a coach or parent (we couldn’t tell which one) to run onto the field to chase off the livestock. This was no simple deer, either, but an up-and-coming young buck on the prowl.
Apparently he prowled into the wrong neighborhood. And apparently this isn’t even a particularly rare occurrence in Manitou Springs, as it didn’t even make the local newscast’s highlights from the game.
It also isn’t the first deer invasion at a football field this year; a Pop Warner field in Oregon also hosted a pair of deer over the summer.
Maybe someone can give them a helmet next time?
